Increasingly, growing businesses face massive scale challenges that often impact the data tier the most. Instead of being focused on delivering new features and capabilities to customers, businesses often experience pain in scaling their infrastructure. Database systems become increasingly difficult to scale and troubleshoot, and require high-level expertise to continuously keep running.
Rackspace Cloud Databases provides a complete solution for customers demanding a high-performance, purpose-built infrastructure designed for relational databases and backed and supported by engineers who specialize in MySQL workloads. With this service, you can trust Rackspace to operate your database while you focus on building a growing business.
First, you now have the option to choose between two enhanced Managed Cloud service levels: Managed Operations and Managed Infrastructure. Both of these service levels come with additional support and features at a much lower cost.
Let’s take a closer look at what’s new:
Managed Infrastructure and Managed Operations with improved support
The new enhanced managed service levels come with more proactive support and access to database experts when you need them. We monitor your databases and our engineers work hard to ensure your applications are always available. Our database specialists are there 24×7 to assist you with troubleshooting your databases, provisioning and managing your instances and users, helping to back up and restore data and doing performance analysis on a slow running database.
Cloud Databases supports MySQL 5.6, Percona Server 5.6, MariaDB 10
There is a lot of innovation happening around different variants of MySQL and we have heard from you that you want newer versions of MySQL, Percona Server or MariaDB to support different workloads. We want you to be successful in whichever variant of MySQL you choose. Starting today, Cloud Databases will support MySQL 5.6, Percona Server 5.6 and MariaDB 10. We have tested the latest versions of MySQL, Percona Server and MariaDB databases and we have seen a breakthrough improvement in performance, scalability and new features.
Larger flavors and more storage
Cloud Databases customers now also have the option to create 32GB and 64GB instances to accommodate larger database footprints. The new flavors have more memory, CPU, network bandwidth and I/O priority, which give you greater performance for your workloads.
With access to more I/O comes larger datasets, so Cloud Databases is also increasing the maximum storage for instances up to 300GB directly through the Control Panel and even higher on request.
