Rackspace has gone top shelf this year during SXSW Interactive 2013, taking over Champions Sports Bar & Restaurant in the heart of festival activity. Events are taking place daily, and one must-see is the Rackspace Winner’s Circle. Inside the Winner’s Circle, the Rackspace Startup Program has assembled an eclectic group of startups to show off their businesses in a live setting. We are spotlighting startups that are using open cloud technologies to build their businesses. So take some time, head over to Champions, and step into the Winner’s Circle to visit with startups that are doing amazing things on the Rackspace Open Cloud!
Here’s who’s hanging out in the Rackspace Winner’s Circle during SXSW Interactive 2013:
GonnaBe – Your social life concierge – event discovery, planning and deals, all in one place (it’s like Yelp for your life). GonnaBe is literally the social media platform of the future. See what’s happening around you later, coordinate with friends and get deals on what you love to do.
At SXSW, GonnaBe is collecting all of the event, party, VIP and social info for activities happening after the panels during SXSW Interactive 2013. Where are the cool after parties? What are the non-sanctioned SXSW events? Where are the food trucks going to be? What are the coolest bars in ATX? Until now there’s never been a socially-charged resource for all things social and nightlife at SXSW. GonnaBe is that resource.
MediaHound – At its core, Media Hound shows you all the ways to enjoy any movie or show. It’s a fantastic tool for discovering new content or quickly getting a movie up on your big screen. Media Hound also allows you to collect and interact with the content in fun, creative ways and share your tastes with your friends.
At SXSW, MediaHound will demo its diverse features including Search, Discovery Filters, Playlist Creation, Alerts and Widgets. Create and post your own unique Favorite Movie Playlist with the SXSW Playlist Party, which appears on the Big Board in minutes, and you can grab some MediaHound swag for the best playlists. Celebrities like Robert Scoble, Eric Ries and others will be encouraged to create a playlist and all will be pushed out across social media platforms. The MediaHound Photo Booth will give you a 2013 SXSW memory that will last a lifetime.
RightScale – Enables you to manage your entire cloud infrastructure with a single, integrated solution. The RightScale cloud management platform provides abstraction with complete customization, allowing you to focus on your applications while optimizing your infrastructure where necessary. In short, RightScale makes cloud manageable.
At SXSW, RightScale will be demoing its cloud management platform and show developers how they can optimize infrastructure, allowing them to focus on the apps they are building. Team RightScale will be evangelizing the open cloud experience and how open helps startups get their products to market quickly, with no capital expenditures and no vendor lock-in.
Tealet– Currated teas, direct from the grower, delivered to your door. The Tealet team has spent the past year working with tea growers in Hawaii, Japan, India, Indonesia, Taiwan, China, Sri Lanka, Nepal and South Korea, to bring the finest teas in the world to US consumers.
At SXSW, take a break from the hustle and bustle with Teatime from Tealet. The Tealet team has come to the Winner’s Circle with teas from around the globe, sampling different flavors of delicious tea, educating festival goers on the healthy benefits of a cup of tea and transforming the Winner’s Circle into the Zen Circle.
Vidmaker– A cloud-based video editor and social platform where anyone can create video and share it everywhere. Vidmaker provides powerful browser-based video editing tools and a mobile app for video uploads, allowing people to easily share video privately with their friends or publicly to blogs, sites, social networks, YouTube and Vimeo.
At SXSW, participants will interact with the Vidmaker product and play with the editor and share their creations to YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, etc. Laptops will be signed in to different accounts to demonstrate that projects, video and images can be shared socially between accounts. Smart phones will available for people to record video at Champions. That video will be immediately available in the editor for people to play with. Pre-populated content can be loaded into the editor with Rackspace and Vidmaker related content for users to integrate into whatever they make.
Along with spotlighting startups live in the Winner’s Circle at Champions, Rackspace has a flurry of events planned for SXSW Interactive 2013. And if you want to find us on Twitter, be sure to keep an eye on the hash-tag #SXRackspace.
