You or your employees have probably, at one time or another, worked on a very mundane, time consuming task such as taking spam comments out of your blog, searching for specific content on the web or making 50 phone calls each containing the same message. And if you do decide to outsource the task, that too takes lots of time and effort to find the right 3rd party to fulfill your task.
CrowdFlower, Rackspace Cloud (Slicehost) Customer of 2 years, wants to alleviate these mundane workloads by providing clients access to an always available, scalable workforce. CrowdFlower launched their product at TechCrunch50 this week in the Business Applications category in front of an audience of over 3,000 viewers and a panel of experts: Satish Dharmaraj, Bradley Horowitz, Tim O’Reilly, Kevin Rose, Lior Zorea.
Unlike traditional methods of outsourcing and hiring, CrowdFlower’s web offering lets businesses instantly access thousands of workers without picking up the phone. Here’s how it works. If a company has a transcribing task, the administrator can fill out a task form on CrowdFlower. Once all the fields are filled out, CrowdFlower will price the task based on the amount of time it takes to perform the assignment per unit (the user does the sample task). The startup will break the task into units that can be performed by a single person and price the task accordingly.
