If you’re a small development shop, you want to spend as much time as possible working on your core product and offload the rest. Email? Let Mailgun handle that. Invoicing and billing? Use FreshBooks. File sharing? DropBox. Accepting payments? Ouch. Build your own and you’ll have to spend time worrying about purging logs, becoming PCI compliant, setting up a payment gateway and handling encryption.
Stripe, a Rackspace Cloud Tools partner, simplifies the process for accepting online payments. One of the main reasons that I like using Stripe is that you can keep a consistent online experience for your consumers instead of sending them off to a different third party storefront that doesn’t look or feel like your site.
In the video below, I walk through a situation where my friend Carrie integrates Stripe payments to her online cookie business and some simple customizations that you can easily make.
