Rackspace User Experience Designer Jay Morgan will speak about the techniques and frameworks for Principled Negotiation next month at the MidwestUX Conference, a user experience conference that blends talks and discussions with hands-on activities presented by regional and international experts and professionals.
Jay, who works on the Experience Design for Platform Product Line at Rackspace, will present “Negotiating Your UX Career,” a discussion in which Jay will touch upon the Principled Negotiation technique for planning and executing negotiation. He will dive into the technique itself and then discuss how to negotiate a job, a contract and a project scope and how to get a seat at the decision-making table. The conversation will also arm attendees with the knowledge of how to prepare for negotiation and the right questions to ask.
Jay is scheduled to present at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, June 2 in the Gallery.
According to Jay, his goal is for attendees of MidwestUX to leave feeling comfortable and confident about standing up for themselves in getting what they need to practice their art.
Jay brings to MidwestUX his vast UX experience, which spans user research; information architecture; iterative testing and prototyping; and team management. Currently, Jay is redesigning cloud hosting web applications for individuals and enterprises. Previously, he worked as UX Director at an interactive marketing agency; Senior IA at Target; and Interface Manager at JCP.com. He has developed the UX practice in retail ecommerce companies and prides himself on seizing every opportunity to advance the practice and quality of UX. Among his most significant accomplishments, Jay ranks his work championing and building Target’s Design Pattern Library.
The MidwestUX Conference runs May 31 to June 2 at Center of Science and Industry (COSI) in Columbus, Ohio.
