Rackspace and Redapt have locked arms to deliver a fully packaged, turnkey private OpenStack cloud supported by Rackspace.
Through the pairing, solution provider Redapt will offer Rackspace Cloud: Private Edition as a soup-to-nuts cloud infrastructure and support offering that makes it easier for companies to leverage the cloud in the data center of their choice.
The fully-converged private cloud is fueled by OpenStack, the open source cloud operating system. The Rackspace/Redapt partnership gives customers the ability to run a private cloud in an open environment with the control of private hardware.
Redapt, which counts Zynga, Citigroup and Red Hat, among its customer base, delivers a single-click, fully-configured OpenStack cloud that can plug into the customer data center. Before delivery, Redapt will handle the integration, testing and configuration, and the hardware can arrive at the customer data center in as few as 14 days. Once there, it requires only power and network connectivity.
Along with Redapt offering Rackspace Cloud: Private Edition hardware, Rackspace will back the cloud with 24x7x365 support and operations assistance from Rackspace Cloud and OpenStack experts.
The goal is to ease the deployment of cloud services.
“Other companies and coalitions have solutions that lock in customers, but our complete infrastructure and support solution is open in every way possible making it easier for companies to grow and change their IT needs,” Jim Curry, general manager of Rackspace Cloud Builders, said.
