Wow! What a week. We were recognized as one of the best places to work, dug into the nitty-gritty of OpenStack at MIT and had some really cute kiddos tell us their thoughts of the cloud. Without further ado, here’s all that and more in this week’s digest.
We’re One Of The 100 Best Companies To Work For
We are super excited to learn that Fortune named Rackspace among its 100 Best Companies to Work For. We’re No. 34 this year, a 40-spot jump from last year. It marks the fifth time in six years we’ve ranked among the 100 best. We will continue to invest heavily in our unique culture, in training and in creating fun and dynamic work environments for Rackers.
If you’re not 100 percent sure what OpenStack is, you’re not alone. To answer your questions, we put together OpenStack 101, a brief video that gives you a high-level overview of what OpenStack is and who uses it.
Don’t Let The Super Bowl Sack Your Site
Super Bowl commercials are a big investment – and so are the companion websites for those ad campaigns. If you want your site to be able to stand up to linebacker-sized traffic spikes, we offer these tips to prep your site for the Super Bowl traffic blitz.
OpenStack Training At MIT
Our team of trainers headed to Boston this week to offer Rackspace Training for OpenStack at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The four-day course taught students the ins and outs of OpenStack in a collaborative, hands-on environment. And it wasn’t the first time OpenStack reached the MIT campus; MIT’s CSAIL lab uses OpenStack to power research projects.
The Journey To Open Computing Continues
Rackspace was out at the Open Compute Summit In Santa Clara, Calif., this week. And while there, we discussed our plans to continue our journey to the open cloud by contributing compute and storage designs to the Open Compute Project community.
Kids Say The Cutest Things … About The Cloud
We had the opportunity to ask a number of children of our Rackers a question, “What is the cloud?” So we decided to ask them on camera. Their answers run the gamut from cute to insightful, and we hope you enjoy seeing and hearing their answers as much as we did. Check out the cloud, explained by kids.
You Cloud Needs A Pit Crew
Winning in the cloud requires not only great software and great hardware, but most importantly it requires great operations. It’s like Formula 1 racing – you can have a great car and a great driver, but without an awesome pit crew you won’t win any races. At Rackspace, we’re your cloud pit crew and we’ll help you win in the cloud.
