A re:Invent Survival Guide

Believe it or not, AWS re:Invent is right around the corner. If you are attending, now is the time to start planning for this non-stop, five-day event. Whether you’re a developer, engineer, system admin, system architect or technical decision maker, there are a plethora of choices to keep your days full, including more than 498 sessions spanning technical talks, breakout sessions, and some solid keynote speakers. Datapipe attends re:Invent every year, so we are experts when it comes to preparing for and making the most of the conference. We put together a few tips on how best to navigate the conference to ensure you make the most of your time in Vegas. Read on to learn more about our activities at the upcoming show as well.

Schedule. Schedule. Schedule.

This year, AWS is offering all–new full-day technical deep dives, called re:Source Mini Con, on topics such as IoT, Serverless Computing, Databases and Containers. In addition, with more than 400 sessions, and more hands-on labs, boot camps, and opportunities for one-on-one engagement with AWS experts, it’s critical to maximize your time by scheduling your days well in advance. Be sure to check out our session with Patrick McClory titled Datapipe Open Source: Image Development Pipeline taking place on Thursday, December 1.

Navigating the Expo

AWS re:Invent Central is comprised of more than 350 vendors, all trying to entertain, educate and engage with you. We recommend setting aside at least half a day to walk the expo floor. In addition to collecting swag, there are a lot of opportunities to learn about the latest and greatest AWS products, services, solutions and engage directly with the companies who are innovating on top of AWS solutions. Stop by Datapipe booth #312 to hear more about our long-standing history with AWS and the work we’ve been doing with the company. We’ll also be announcing some company and product news onsite so come by to learn about the big announcements. You’ll also have a chance to win an Amazon Echo!

Networking.

It wouldn’t be a conference in Vegas without a vibrant nighttime schedule of events to take advantage of. AWS re:Invent hosts a number of nighttime events including the perennial favorite 19-venue pub crawl. You can check out a full list of AWS re:Invent after-hour events here. Vendors also host a number of nighttime events so be sure to take advantage of the networking time and rub elbows with the vendors and executives that matter most to you.
