Business Isn’t Nine-To-Five, Email Shouldn’t Be Either

Business is no longer just nine-to-five. It doesn’t wait for you to be at your desk. Heck, in today’s world of fast-paced business transactions and telecommuting, you may not even have a desk. Your employees need access to their email – it’s the lifeline of business communication, anytime, anywhere. With Rackspace Hosted Exchange you can access synced mail, contacts, calendars, tasks and notes from your desktop, browser, tablet and mobile device. Let’s take a brief look at each.

Access from Outlook (desktop)

Outlook is the most popular business email client with 937 million users worldwide and an estimate of 1.1 billion users by 2017.1 Many users even refer to their email as “Outlook” rather than Exchange. And why not? It’s a powerful application that puts collaboration easily at your fingertips with a ton of features and incredible integration with other apps. With the recent release of Outlook 2013, you now have a People Hub that consolidates contact information and displays social media activity, an attachment reminder and a sleek new design that allows you to see snapshots of your calendar, contacts, tasks, etc. from anywhere in the inbox. Check out more details on our blog or chat with a Racker to learn more about the seamless integration between Outlook and Hosted Exchange.

Rackspace Hosted Exchange users can always get the most recent version of Outlook (either Windows or Mac) in the Rackspace Control Panel.

Access from Outlook Web Apps (browser)

This isn’t your grandmother’s Outlook Web Apps (OWA). If you haven’t taken a look at OWA 2013, check out this video to see the fantastic new design (it looks like Outlook) and the functionality that you can reach from anywhere.  OWA is now a great experience from any browser and has some hot new capabilities like offline mode that lets users access email, calendars, contacts, notes and tasks even when not connected to the Internet. You can also use the Rackspace auto-configuration tools for iPhones and Outlook that will allow end users to setup their devices and clients with a click of the button. You can only find these setup tools with Rackspace Outlook Web Apps 2013 and they will definitely save administrators time and frustration with visiting every user to help with mobile and Outlook setup.

Access from your mobile device

This has to be one of my favorite parts of Rackspace Hosted Exchange; you can get your email (including your folder structure, sent items, drafts, trash, etc.), calendar and contacts on each of your mobile devices and seamlessly sync them with each other, Outlook and Outlook Web Apps (OWA).  They are ALL in sync. Accept a meeting on your mobile phone? No problem, it’s also on your Outlook calendar the next time you open it. Add a contact in OWA? It’s automatically on your tablet. Did you draft an email in Outlook but not finish it? Yep, it’s in your Drafts folder on your mobile device for you to finish on the airplane.  Rackspace Hosted Exchange supports iPhone, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry devices as well as tablets. And what’s better? ActiveSync is included for FREE with your Hosted Exchange mailbox.

Rackspace Hosted Exchange let’s you bring your business communication with you, whenever and wherever you need it.  Take a test drive with our 14-day free trial or chat with one of our mail Rackers who can answer any questions you may have.

  1. We are on intermediate. How much is this from rack space? How is it different from the exchange provided by Microsoft on office 365 business?
