Today, as part of our ongoing client spotlight series, we want to recognize one of these valued customers and showcase how Datapipe was able to help them reach their business goals.

FTI Consulting is an independent global business advisory firm dedicated to helping organizations manage change, mitigate risk, and resolve financial, legal, operational, political, or reputational disputes. FTI offers a comprehensive suite of services designed to assist customers across the business cycle – from proactive risk management to the ability to respond rapidly to unexpected events and dynamic environments.

FTI handles massive amounts of sensitive data for its clients, making security a top priority for the company. The modern security landscape for businesses is constantly changing and growing in complexity, and FTI found it increasingly difficult to stay ahead of the curve on the security front while still being able to serve clients in time-sensitive situations. To address these concerns, FTI began looking for an agile and secure cloud solution on which to migrate its on-premises data.

After conducting research, FTI decided the AWS Cloud was the right cloud provider for them. AWS offered the agility and breadth of services the company was looking for, but FTI also needed a partner to assist with migration and ensuring compliance with security standards.

FTI determined Datapipe was the best partner to meet their needs. FTI decided on Datapipe because of our extensive AWS expertise and global footprint, which matched FTI’s global reach. Datapipe migrated and modernized FTI’s SQL Server workloads, moving over 100 terabytes of data to AWS. As a result, FTI’s SQL Server databases are now hosted across several AWS Regions, including the U.S., Ireland, and Brazil. Having a presence in each of these regions means that FTI can more easily meet data sovereignty-related compliance requirements while giving employees and customers low-latency access to critical applications from almost anywhere.

In addition, FTI’s migration to AWS Cloud has allowed the company to implement more robust security measures that are able to scale along with its infrastructure. The company can now archive old cases, which it wasn’t able to do with its previous, on-premises infrastructure. This improved organization and efficiency, and allowed FTI to achieve data governance in the EU. FTI is now well-prepared to assist clients to meet EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance requirements.

Rich Dolan serves as Senior Director of Rackspace Corporate Marketing, which includes analyst relations, public and media relations, blog, customer reference, social marketing, brand and content management. Previously Senior Vice President of Marketing for Datapipe, Rich made the move to Rackspace after it acquired Datapipe in late 2017. Rich spent 16 years at Datapipe, developing and driving its world class marketing team as the company grew into one of the leading global managed service providers, from the early days as a start up to a global enterprise player. He built and oversaw digital marketing and demand generation, event management, content management, internal communications, brand management, partner marketing and web properties. Rich managed the consolidation of marketing resources from five acquisitions, and led Datapipe to thirteen Gartner Magic Quadrant recognitions across the globe, including four placements in the Leaders quadrant. Before Datapipe, Rich spent four years with web design firm RareMedium, where he designed and architected web presences and client facing applications for Madison Square Garden, JP Morgan, Atlantis, XM Radio and Credit Suisse First Boston. Rich graduated summa cum laude from the New York Institute of Technology with a BA in computer graphics. He lives in New York with his wife and daughter.
