Come Work For The Rackspace Cloud

The Rackspace Cloud is growing quickly. We’re enabling developers and business decision-makers to avoid the hassles and costs of dedicated hardware while offering the scalability of the Cloud. With this rapid growth, we’re rapidly looking for more people to help us bring cloud computing power to the masses. If you’re a technology enthusiast who wants to work in a challenging environment, enjoys wearing jeans and your favorite Threadless t-shirt, can play a good game of ping pong and would like the perk of endless caffeine stations, then this is the place for you! Don’t let the ping pong worry you, we also have a Pool Table, Rock Band, a Karaoke machine, Air Hockey and more. Although there are many openings available, I’d like to highlight a few.  Specifically, we need Developers, Product Managers and System Engineers.

Java Developers (Job Code 3151, 3155)
We are continuing to build and improve web applications to help clients better manage their Cloud services.  If you like to code and want to be a part of a team that is developing these new web applications for the Rackspace Cloud, this is for you. We’re looking for super caffeinated Java developers with 5+ years experience in object oriented software development that can also lead and mentor junior developers. You need to have experience with developing enterprise web applications in Java/J2EE, Hibernate, Spring, with REST, SOA and/or Messaging experience. We’re also looking for developers that have experience working with various API’s and have worked with databases (bonus if it’s MySQL). We’ll take care of the caffeine for you with unlimited soda machines at the local Cloud filling station.

Product Manager (Job Code 2887)
If you’re passionate about listening to customers and get excited to see roadmaps develop with the best interest of the customer, we need you! We’re looking for passionate product managers with a track record of developing and managing product requirements to drive the planning and design of new and existing Cloud products. You have to have the ability to truly think outside the box, keep abreast of the competitive landscape, and have a willingness to do things the hard way when it’s required to make the product experience better for our customers. If you count yourself as a guardian for customer experience, get out your shield and sword and apply now!

Cloud Engineering Manager (Job Code 2912)
At the Rackspace Cloud, we are continuing to build and manage cutting edge technologies and are looking for leaders in this aspect. We need a Cloud Engineering Manager that has the ability to lead a team in complex research leading to the design of new technology products or enhancements to current products such as networking, software, and/or hardware.  We want someone that can also lead the discovery of new concepts and technologies and can help the team translate these for use in product development. If this gets you pumped up and you have experience with UNIX/LINUX environments and have 2-4 years in leading senior technology teams, we want you!

We are hiring for many more positions. Go to the Rackspace Careers Site and for Job Category, make sure to select “The Rackspace Cloud.” If you’re hired, you will get to go through our infamous Rookie O orientation. Also, take a sneak peak of what it’s like to work here.

Before leaving in 2016, Angela ran integrated marketing campaigns for Rackspace. She started in 2003 and did everything from Linux support, account management, sales, product marketing and marketing. She left Rackspace in 2005 to work for PEER 1 Hosting but returned in 2009 because she was interested in the cloud computing movement. Angela is a strong believer in the power of storytelling.
