How the Cloud is Helping Veteran Health Care

As a managed services provider trusted by government agencies, Datapipe has stayed ahead of the technology curve to address challenges faced by the public sector. Currently, there is a substantial increase in military Veterans, which poses significant challenges to the Veteran Affairs (VA) health care system. The Veterans Health Administration is America’s largest integrated health care system with more than 1,700 sites of care, serving 8.76 million Veterans each year to provide exceptional care that improves health and well-being. To support the influx of new Veterans, the VA is now restructuring their organization to increase efficiency and capacity, and enhance the quality of care even more.

As a sponsor at this year’s recent VA Healthcare 2016, the Datapipe Government Solutions (DGS) team connected with senior Veteran healthcare officials and solution providers to discuss the latest developments, technologies, and strategies necessary to strengthen the VA Health Care system. Our team learned about how the VA Health Care system is working to become more agile, flexible, and innovative with the products and services they are using, not only to keep up with industry standards, but to become the Federal industry leader in the IT space.

Having worked with more than half of the cabinet level agencies of the U.S. Federal Government, the DGS team is experienced with the challenges of the industry. There is a strong need for a secure private cloud that can keep Personally Identifiable Information (PII) & Protected Health Information (PHI) sensitive data secure. Datapipe’s FedRAMP JAB P-ATO approved FCCP private cloud module with physical separation offers the high security standards required to keep PII & PHI sensitive data secure. FCCP’s modular design makes security the top priority while providing the cost-savings, flexibility, and customization government agencies and their partners need to meet their own unique performance and security requirements.

An additional challenge that the VA Health Care system is currently facing is the long deployment time of the application to market. Datapipe’s FCCP platform reduces time to market, chopping deployment time from an estimated 18 months down to 4-6 months. Time and complexity are significantly reduced through the ATO process as FCCP as a PaaS offering includes management up through the virtual operating system. What is unique about FCCP is that agencies can layer their agency-specific controls on top of our system security documents, further reducing time to market by 65-75% by getting the application quickly tested, developed and deployed. By combining the JAB P-ATO, PaaS, and agency specific security controls, FCCP is a perfect solution for the challenges the VA Health Care system is currently facing.
