We are proud to announce that Rackspace has achieved APEC Privacy Certification through TRUSTe under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Cross Border Privacy Rules (CPBR) system.

The APEC CBPR system is a voluntary self-regulatory initiative which allows companies that do business in APEC member countries to demonstrate their commitment to data privacy under the APEC CBPR Framework.

The APEC CBPR system requires participating businesses to develop and implement data privacy policies that are consistent with the APEC Privacy Framework, which is designed to ensure the continued free flow of personal information across borders, within the APEC membership and APEC CBPR participating countries. The APEC CBPR Framework is the first framework approved for the transfer of personal data between APEC Member countries, with the U.S. being the first formal participant.

After a thorough assessment under the APEC CBPR Framework, TRUSTe has verified the privacy and data transfer practices of Rackspace are in compliance with the APEC CBPR Framework.

“TRUSTe congratulates Rackspace on the milestone achievement of certifying their data transfer practices under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Cross Border Privacy Rules (CPBR) system,” said TRUSTe CEO Chris Babel. “This certification demonstrates Rackspace’s commitment to the safe handling of personal information.”

Having the Privacy Shield and the APEC CBPR certifications in place can also help our customers address their requirements when personal information is transferred to Rackspace across borders. Additional details about the TRUSTe APEC Privacy program can be found at www.truste.com/apec.

Rackspace is also now featured as one on the leading players in the Privacy Ecosystem, a Privacy Ecosystem map published and maintained by TRUSTe. TRUSTe “profiles some of the organizations that are helping to shape the massive privacy ecosystem through the eyes of the professionals that work there and learn more about their perspectives on privacy.”

As we support our customers across the globe, we continue addressing concerns about privacy and international data transfers, as well as being transparent about our privacy practices. We are committed to privacy and continue addressing the diverse range of privacy regimes around the globe. This is critical to our business.
