Rackspace celebrated the opening of its Singapore office last week with a get-together for customers and partners, plus a CIO lunch and panel to share our offerings with local media and analysts.
Our customers in Asia now have a local Rackspace presence in two major international hubs — Singapore and Hong Kong — making it far easier for them to connect and develop IT solutions with us.
The party drew a crowd of almost 200, and included Rackspace partners, customers, prospects and friends. Chief Evangalist John Engates attended from Rackspace HQ in San Antonio, joining Managing Director of Rackspace International Reinhard Waldinger, Rackers from Hong Kong, and partners including AWS, Microsoft, Akamai and Cloudflare. The panel luncheon brought together another 70 attendees.
On average, Singapore enterprises use six cloud services, according to a survey Rackspace commissioned by IDG. Across the globe, companies are using multiple clouds, and they need a managed service provider who can manage those clouds while providing standards for security, compliance and customized solutions that meet their specific needs.

The Singapore team is a mix of experienced Rackers who have relocated from Hong Kong, plus new local talent. Singapore is a strong strategic location for Southeast Asia, the innovation hub for both technology and finance for APAC. It is also home to the regional headquarters for public cloud giants (and Rackspace partners) Microsoft, AWS, Google, plus a significant number of multi-national companies.
Rackspace already has Singapore-based clients. Recently, the Southeast Asian arm of digital agency SapientRazorfish transformed its campaign deployment process with the help of Rackspace, moving its customers from on-premise infrastructure to cloud environments.
