More details about Microsoft Azure Stack
Azure Stack is a new hybrid cloud platform that enables businesses to consume and deliver Azure cloud services easily and consistently across locations — from private clouds in a proprietary data center, to hosted clouds offered by service providers such as Rackspace, to Microsoft’s Azure public cloud.
Because Azure Stack leverages the same code base, portal, APIs and service architecture used in the Azure public cloud, Azure Stack delivers a number of benefits, including increased flexibility by allowing you to standardize on a single set of technologies and easily shift, distribute and migrate workloads across public and private clouds as your requirements change.
This ability to pivot between public and private clouds using the same code base is at the heart of why Azure stack is such a game changer — it’s something no other hyperscale cloud provider has offered to date.
Azure Stack also offers better management across operating systems and infrastructure. Applications and data can be moved between Azure Stack and Azure public cloud unchanged, for both Windows Server and Linux.
In addition, for approved software and hardware combinations, Azure Stack enables turnkey private cloud solutions, removing much of the complexity that comes with building older, private cloud deployments around legacy applications.
And if you’re concerned about your IT department using unapproved services and software just to get their jobs done, Azure Stack also offers on-demand cloud resources for your developers, which can significantly cut down on rogue or “shadow” IT use.
Azure Stack is poised to change the game when it comes to the cloud and will remove many of the pain points that have traditionally been thought of as unavoidable hurdles. We’re excited about what this means for our Microsoft customers, and those looking to harness the power of the Microsoft Cloud.
