What I’m looking forward to at VMworld 2017

VMworld 2017 is approaching fast and I’m excited at its potential. I’m looking forward to discovering more about Cross Cloud, VMware Cloud, AWS, Cloud Foundation and vCloud Availability, just to name a few. Seeing that there will be more than 100 advanced technical sessions demonstrates just how valuable the event is for VMware ecosystem CIOs, CTOs, CFOs, and architects. These breakout sessions are a great opportunity to investigate new or existing technologies and determine their relevance to your career or business.

I have the privilege of speaking at VMworld this year and hope you can attend my sessionHow Rackspace is helping customers leverage SDDC to increase the agility and scalability of legacy application lifecycle. I’m looking forward to sharing some of the things we’ve learned at Rackspace as a VMware vCAN managed service provider.

I’ll address some of the challenges organisations face when adopting SDDC and how SDDC environments offered by vCAN service providers such as Rackspace can alleviate the need to re-architect legacy applications, while achieving some of the benefits of cloud architectures.

What I’m excited about

I’m excited to join Rackspace customer, DFS on stage who will review a legacy application that made it challenging to perform upgrades without significant downtime or scale environments to keep up with growth. I’ll discuss how we leveraged NSX and vSAN to architect and manage environments that enabled application agility without rewriting the application, and how we were able to reduce the costs associated with scaling DFS’ workloads.

Find Rackspace at Booth G505

I’ll also be visiting the Solution Exchange. If you have any long-running issues with a partner or vendor, then this is a great opportunity to get in front of a SME at the booth and chat through your experiences. You just might find the solution to your issue after a quick conversation with the right person. Rackspace will be at Booth G505.

Exploring the outer fringes of the Solution Exchange is a must, and offers a chance to see what up and coming tech companies have to offer. You never know what sort of interesting startup you might find, and the people at these booths are passionate about their business and technology solutions.

My intentions for VMworld 2017

At this kind of event, I sometimes have to remind myself to take the time to speak with the person next to me while I eat lunch, stand in line for a session or at a booth in the exchange. You never know when you will make a great connection that can lead to a problem-solving opportunity, or a new insight about the technologies on display.

VMworld will no doubt be hectic and exhausting at times but at the end of the week, I hope to come away with greater insights on VMware’s direction for the next year and where to focus my efforts.

Want to find out more? Learn more about our VMware solutions, and come see us at VMworld. In addition to my speaking sessions, Rackspace VMware experts will be on hand at our Booth G505 in the Solution Exchange. We look forward to seeing you!
