Rackspace UK Wins a Glassdoor Employees' Choice Award

Rackspace is pleased to announce our UK office is among the winners of the 9th annual Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards, an innovatively transparent and accessible list of the Best Places to Work in 2017.

Unlike other awards, there is no self-nomination process; the honours system here is entirely based on feedback given by employees who voluntarily and anonymously share their thoughts on Glassdoor.

To determine the winners, Glassdoor evaluates all company views and reviews shared by employees over the past year. This year, we are proud to be recognised as a Best Place to Work in the UK, based upon Racker feedback generated from our Hayes headquarters near Heathrow.

“We’re proud to receive an accolade like this that’s based on anonymous employee and ex-employee feedback. I think the work hard, play hard culture at Rackspace is a key factor behind these positive responses. We have created a fun, yet focused working environment that’s designed to keep employees very motivated because we believe a satisfied, enthusiastic workforce leads to happy customers. We appreciate the invaluable feedback provided via Glassdoor, as it helps us to strive for continuous improvement,” said Darren Norfolk, Managing Director for Rackspace UK.

Company culture and the employee experience are critical considerations for job seekers everywhere when deciding where to work, notes Glassdoor CEO and co-founder Robert Hohman. Rackspace is in good company with its Glassdoor recognition; previous firms who have appeared in this list include Expedia, Google, Unilever, Microsoft, John Lewis and easyJet.

“The Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards recognise companies that truly stand out as Best Places to Work because they’re purely determined by the authentic voice of those who really know a company best - the employees,” said Hohman. “Employers whose employees love to work for them continue to prove that they have a recruiting and business performance edge.”

Below are some of the kind words employees shared on Glassdoor that contributed toward the award:

“Great culture and many opportunities to make real change.”

“People are great. Amazing work culture. Plenty of benefits. A lot of opportunities for progression, and training has been the best I've seen.”

"Amazing culture - relaxed, fun work environment with the goal of taking care of the Racker in order to take care of the customer."

"Strong set of core values core that permeates everything [we] do"

The Best Places to Work are determined using company reviews shared by UK-based employees between Nov. 2, 2015 and Oct. 30, 2016. To be considered, a company must have at least 1,000 employees and received at least 30 company reviews from UK-based employees during the period of eligibility.

The final list is compiled based on Glassdoor’s proprietary algorithm, and takes into account quantity, quality and consistency of reviews.

On Glassdoor, current and former employees of companies worldwide can share insights and opinions about their work environments by sharing a company review, designed to capture a genuine and authentic inside look at what it’s like to work at particular jobs and companies.

When sharing a company review on Glassdoor, employees are asked to rate their satisfaction with the company overall, and key workplace factors like career opportunities, compensation, benefits, work/life balance, senior management, as well as culture and values. In addition, employees are asked to describe the best reasons to work at their companies as well as any downsides.
