For many people, Rackspace and OpenStack are linked together like peanut butter and jelly. Sure, they’re technically separate ingredients, but together, they’re more than the sum of their parts.
The same goes for OpenStack and Rackspace. After all, we founded OpenStack with NASA, have been an OpenStack provider longer than anyone, have more than one billion server hours of experience and are the all-time leading code contributor to OpenStack.
Over the years, managing hundreds of OpenStack clouds, we’ve built a fantastic community of OpenStack Rackers who work with customers, code and complexity — day in and day out — to make the OpenStack experience a better one.
That’s why we’ve expanded our contributions to the OpenStack community.
If you’ve been watching the Rackspace blog, you may have noticed an uptick in the number of posts about OpenStack and private clouds. That’s because we’re running an intensive effort to pull back the curtain and give you a backstage look at what we’ve learned from those one billion (and counting!) server hours of experience operating OpenStack clouds for some of the world’s largest and most respected companies.
Twice a week, we’re publishing posts about OpenStack written by our front-line experts. They cover a wide range of topics, from the Rackspace customer experience, best practices, OpenStack security, networking, customer outcomes, conversations with architects, tips and tricks and insights into our training program. We’re putting our insights out into the world, in a way that’s relevant to decision-makers, influencers, administrators and users alike.
Why are we doing this? In part, of course, to attract new customers. But it’s also to support the OpenStack community. With more than 80,000 people now involved in OpenStack, we want to do everything we can to make that community strong, sustainable and successful. This blog campaign is one of the ways we can give back.
We’re also highlighting the value of OpenStack. We know, and our customers know, that OpenStack is mature, ready for enterprise scale production workloads and relevant as an open source alternative in a world where most organizations have more than one cloud. We want to spread that message even further.
