As I look back on 2017, I see it as a major turning point in the history of Rackspace, and in our mission to help customers take full advantage of the latest in information technology as a service.
During the past year, we at once extended our lead in delivering multi-cloud services and charted a future in which we will continue to enhance the Fanatical Experience that we provide to our customers.
I feel very proud of our 6,000-plus Rackers, who not only endured but embraced significant change: our first year as a privately held company, with a new CEO and other senior leaders, and the two biggest acquisitions in the company’s history.
In June, we closed our purchase of TriCore Solutions, which enabled us to add the enterprise application management services that more and more of our customers have been demanding, especially for their Oracle and SAP environments.
Then in November, we closed our acquisition of Datapipe, extending our lead in managed multi-cloud services, expanding our reach in Europe and Asia and adding capabilities in serving large enterprises and government customers.
In parallel with these acquisitions, we’ve started making organic investments and forged new partnerships to extend our lead in managed hosting, managed private cloud, security services and managed public cloud.
In 2018, we will further differentiate Rackspace from the pack by enhancing and integrating our portfolio of services. We intend to:
— Build integrated service management capabilities, powered by artificial intelligence and predictive analytics.
— Advance our “above the platform” multi-cloud services in the areas of application management and security.
— Deploy the latest technology and best practices into our management of the company, so we can serve customers better and more cost-efficiently.
—Extend our international presence.
—Expand our professional and transformation services, to help customers on their journey from design through delivery optimization
— Evolve our award-winning employee engagement and culture to provide a world class customer experience across leading IT apps and platforms.
We will also continue to be good citizens in all the communities where Rackspace does business around the world. This is an area where I’m especially proud of our Rackers. To cite just one example: while we are far from the largest employer in our hometown of San Antonio, we lead local companies in the number of needy families we feed each Thanksgiving.
This Racker ethic of selfless service to one another, and to the communities where we live and work, goes hand in hand with the exceptional service that we aspire to deliver to our customers. It’s an element of our culture that we intend to nurture in 2018 and for years to come.
