Mark your calendars and book your travel as the OpenStack Summit returns to Vancouver!
In the three years since the Summit was last held in this world class Canadian city, OpenStack has matured into the leading enterprise platform for private cloud, and many more businesses are consuming it as-a-service, a delivery model Rackspace pioneered.
Rackspace has also been busy since the last Vancouver Summit, launching new solutions and capabilities in response to the evolving needs of enterprises that want to consume IT as-a-service flexibly, to best match the requirements of their applications and workloads with the platform and technology that will provide the best fit and business value.
To meet those needs, we’ve expanded our offerings with Rackspace Private Cloud Powered by Red Hat, for customers who want Rackspace’s production-level support and operational expertise running Red Hat OpenStack Platform, and “OpenStack Everywhere,” which enables customers to consume private clouds, as a service, in any data center anywhere in the world.
We’ve also partnered with HPE to deliver the world’s first OpenStack private cloud with pay per use infrastructure, which offers the benefits of a public cloud — cloud-like utility pricing, elastic infrastructure and simplified IT — in a private cloud environment located in their datacenter, a colocation facility or a datacenter managed by Rackspace.
Developing the flexible private cloud solutions organizations are seeking is a big reason we’ve been recognized by Forrester Research as a Leader in Hosted Private Cloud and by Red Hat as its 2017 Innovator of the Year.
As we prepare for the Summit, we’re looking forward to sharing our experience and insights with you.
So, while you’re planning your schedule at the Summit, make sure to check out Rackspace OpenStack experts at the speaking sessions below, and at our booth.
Mon., May 21, 11:35 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
Deploying Kubernetes with Terraform on an OpenStack cloud will ultimately lead to the question what to do about load balancing. This talk will explore the architecture, the necessary enhancements to Terraform and K8, and general setup of such a solution. Attendees will learn:
- the difference between Neutron LBaaS V2 and Octavia V2 API,
- architecture of a Kubernetes deployment with Octavia,
- the Octavia extensions to the OpenStack provider and how to configure it in Terraform/Tectonic and
- the Octavia extensions in Kubernetes and how to configure them.
Mon., May 21, 11:35 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
See what’s new in Octavia, the latest OpenStack release, and what you can expect to see from the project in the upcoming release.
Mon., May 21, 3:10 – 3:50 p.m.
Tues., May 22, 9 – 10:30 a.m.
The OpenStack community has encouraged us to become mentors. But how to foster a healthy and prosperous relationship that benefits both the mentor and the mentee? This session will explore the different types of mentoring relationships, as well as setting goals, tracking progress, and getting the most out of these relationships.
Wed., May 23, 4:40 – 6:10 p.m.
This workshop is designed to help users grasp the building blocks of Kubernetes. We will go over the Kubernetes application plane and the basic objects that make up Kubernetes, including pods, services and volumes. Then we’ll get into higher level abstractions like ReplicaSets and Deployments. Then we’ll go through a hands-on lab to build out our first application using Kubernetes. Students will leave knowing how to deploy an application and be ready to learn more about Kubernetes.
Even if you’re not going to the Summit, you can learn more and find out whether private cloud as a service might be a good fit for your organization. Take advantage of a free strategy session with a private cloud expert — no strings attached. SIGN UP NOW.
